We all possess the tools to master this art, they are within us. The Science Storyteller’s Toolbox workshop reveals these tools and teaches how to use them in record time thanks to simple exercises that you will never forget.

You will learn by practice how to:

  • Build individual and group trust.
  • Harness the power of stress.
  • Use your body to communicate with full awareness.
  • Share and master powerful emotional states.
  • Remove all obstacles to engagement.
  • Become a genuine science storyteller.

Day 2: Using the storyteller’s toolbox You will learn by practice how to:

  • Build a regular story and a science story.
  • Connect emotions to communication objectives.
  • Tell your science story with the best science words.
  • Fix presentation pitfalls before they occur.
  • Adapt your communication to the audience.
  • Transform presentations into amazing stories.

All the important exercises and presentations you complete during the workshop are filmed and thoroughly analyzed using interactive video annotation technology , providing you with uniquely powerful follow-up tools.

The Science Storyteller’s Toolbox is Made for Leaders, Teachers and All Other Public Speakers

Our method is based on a very long experience teaching busy professionals the foundations of biotechnology.

 
The complexity of the subject, learner diversity, time limitations and apprehensions to learning science, all contributed to a unique challenge. Meeting this challenge laid the foundations of our approach.

 

The addition of techniques that enhance leadership and change management skills led to the emergence of a unique method that creates shared engagement and strong emotional drive to communicate, learn and teach science better.

Course Trainer

Yvan (Vanya) Loroch, Ph D
CEO – Biology

Vanya Loroch is a biologist, precision medicine futurist and science storyteller. His teaching knowledge encompasses biology in health and disease, genetics, all flavors of biotechnology, drug development, and storytelling skills. Since 2007, his trainings have benefited some 200 companies and organizations of all sizes active in pharma, biotech, medtech, food and cosmetics industries, environmental sciences, agriculture, engineering, academic research, politics, and the fight against doping. Vanya holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of California and has carried out postdoctoral research at the University of Geneva.

Workshop Outline

  1. You choose the first three slides from the most challenging slide deck that you have ever had.
  2. You build a personal presentation using our templates that allow the integration of the tools you will learn.

Day one consists in reverse engineering and reengineering science communication, presentation and storytelling:

  • We will identify and isolate all the components that make up all possible forms of communication.
  • We will investigate and practice the dual nature of trust: its rational and irrational aspects.
  • We will rigorously define the ingredients necessary and sufficient to build a science story.
  • We will discover how body language can support or sabotage effective storytelling.
  • We will discover, practice and practice again archetypal initiating gestures that unlock our inner communicator
    potential and leave us no choice but to become engaging storytellers.
  • We will learn to connect to the content we deliver and to our audience through total mastery of our emotions. 

 

Throughout the day, participants’ selected exercises and presentations will be filmed with professional video equipment for fine analysis of their performance and visual testimony of the progress accomplished

Day two consists in applying the tools acquired during day one for science story-building and science storytelling:

  • We will practice combinations of archetypal gestures and emotional states to gain absolute storytelling fluency.
  • We will explore and practice structured approaches to build effective presentations and precise science stories.
  • We will practice presenting stories in a variety of ways and find the different ways that work best for us.
  • We will learn how to detect, anticipate and prevent presentation pitfalls.
  • We will provide in-depth constructive criticism for each participant, using our collective intelligence of amazing
    storytellers that we have always been.


As in day one, participants’ selected exercises and presentations will be filmed with professional video
equipment for fine analysis of their performance and visual testimony of the progress accomplished.

We will provide each participant with a multimedia personal guide comprising:

  • The participant’s video takes annotated in situ using H5P video technology (https://h5p.org/),
  • A personal action plan to continue the lifelong journey towards perfection in communication and leadership
